THE STORY 2

“Guys you would not believe what I just heard” Quinn rushed into the center sighting Malia seating beside Alex

Quinn halted suspecting the reason for her presence at the center

“Hey” Malia beamed a soft sad smile at Quinn when she sighted her

“Hey” Quinn returned a confused smile

“Hope you don’t mind.” Malia asked placing her gaze on Quinn

Quinn nodded negatively “are you alright?” asking concerned

“Have you heard” Eli interrupted from the left “about Frank?”

“Frank was assassinated” Quinn said sadly. She looked towards Malia who seemed to have heard the news already. It was obvious she felt more downhearted than the rest 

“Why would someone do such a thing” Malia said out soberly “Frank would never hurt anyone, so why on earth would someone be so wicked to do such a thing to him?”

Alex held her close as she let out a tear.

Jeremy barged in out of the blues obviously tensed “is it true? That Frank was assassinated?”

The silence that followed was enough answer for Jeremy to hit his back on the wall dejectedly

“How? Why would someone do such a thing?!”

It was obvious the whole crew plundered on the same question as silence accompanied with a sad atmosphere took over

“But Quinn you said Frank’s mom told you their doctor did a verified autopsy that he died of skin cancer. So what’s all this confusing news?” Alex could no longer hide his mini rage and hurt

Quinn exhaled before speaking up to the hearing of the crew

“That’s what his mom told me, but it turns out the doctor didn’t do a verified autopsy. He handed the work over to his incompetent workers that gave a nonchalant attitude to their work. He didn’t verify and just went along with their results…”

“So how did the doctor get to know Frank didn’t actually die of Melanoma?”

“I…I don’t know. My dad just told me the rumors he heard was that Frank died of poison” Quinn’s facial expression should her sadness

“Poison?” Jeremy and Malia exclaimed coincidentally. They looked at each other, but quickly shifted their gaze else where

“Yea… I don’t know how. I haven’t heard a thing” Quinn said

“We can’t let this go, this is just so unfair” Malia spoke soberly. She looked at the quad “you guys have to find out what happened…please I beg you” Malia’s tears fell as she clasped her palms together “please…Frank was my best friend, hearing that he died of skin cancer was bad, but knowing that he was assassinated… he would never hurt a fly, please…Frank needs to get justice…”

“Malia I don’t think there is anything we can do even if we wanted to” Tony finally spoke up 

She looked at him, with her eyes all swollen and red. He could see those eyes requesting for a reason why

“His parents won’t let us. Remember the school was never supposed to dig up Frank’s story. His parents let us off the hook because they went through our blog and found out, we weren’t purposely digging up anything about Frank’s death, but that it was a mere coincidence for us. Even if we were let off the hook, they did that with a hard warning”

“We really do want to help, but we are also confused here Malia” Eli decided to speak up also “the doctor who didn’t do an authentic autopsy was sued. He lost his hospital. Mr. Ambrose was ready to put him in jail, but Mrs. Ambrose light lifted his punishment, because of his youngest child who is barely a year old. The public is ranting about him. He has been stripped off his professional status” the crew gazed at Eli with a surprised look “what did you expect, he was dealing with a family of senior barristers. His name has been dragged to the floor, as every unfortunate situation has been tagged towards him and his hospital.”

Eli paused a bit, like she awaited a response

“Dealing with such a family is a big deal, and what are we… just common college students. As much as I really want to give Frank the justice he deserves, I’m not sure there is anything we can do. And besides, if his parents were interested in finding out the culprit, they would hire an investigating team to handle things, and might even do it better that we would. All we have to do is wait”

The room became silent again as each person plundered on Elizabeth’s words. But after a few seconds flew by, Quinn’s resistant and determined attitude stirred her up once again

“Guys we can do something. Yes they could hire an investigating team, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do something of our own. Frank’s parents never got to k now their son  well enough, so how far would they get… even if they do get far, we are future journalist, let’s investigate ours. Maybe we won’t just post anything. We would just do our investigation solo… We won’t tell anyone about this, in order to avert rumors and getting our names out.

The trio didn’t still see things the wav Quinn did, so she continued “we will be careful I promise, low-key, that’s what we are gonna do. Even if we aren’t doing this for a story, at least for our friend…”

The trio gave Quinn a gaze that spoke ‘we never knew Frank, how is he our friend’

When Quinn understood their telepathy eye contact, she twisted her head slightly towards Malia and Jeremy, and coincidentally, the trio all sighed deeply

“Even if we want to, this is a murder case, we need good clues. Where do we start from?” Alex broke the silence

“What was Frank poisoned of” Tony asked with an indifferent attitude “we should at least start from there”

“You are right” Eli looked towards Quinn like she had an answer but Quinn raised both shoulders “okay what if we ask the doctor”

“Huh!” Quinn “you want us to meet the doctor, a man that just lost everything in a twinkle of an eye. A man whose life got shattered and would be barely holding up especially due the rumors going on about him. You want us to go to him right now?”

Jeremy and Malia just stared mute, as they couldn’t see themselves bringing up something suitable, until Malia thought of one

“I have an idea. Since he is at a vulnerable state right now, why don’t you use the scheme you guys used in making me talk about Jeremy when you guys were interested in knowing the reason for our relationship surcease back then”

Eli, Tony and Alex tried to understand Malia’s idea but Quinn plundered on a word Malia used in her sentence like she had heard it from somewhere before. And then it hit her, the word ‘surcease’ it meant to cease or discontinue. Her lips swayed up into a side smile as she remembered her scenario with Tim, but she quickly snapped back when she heard soft laughs spread through the atmosphere

“What…” she said confused

“Plan A remember” Eli smiled towards Quinn hoping for her to return a smile in understanding

“We are gonna use plan A for the doctor” Tony said
