THE STORY 2 EP. 6

 EPISODE SIX

THE STORY 2

BY PRAISE UMORU

Being it an annual event, once again the theater Art students were hosting another show. As usual the school were aware as the news spread like wild fire, and the crew also caught the fire.

Malia isn’t in the right state of mind, as Jeremy’s situation still got a hold on her. Being a law student, she thought of several consequences that could be done to a murderer and with Jeremy in his twenties, no one was likely to see him as a child, there was a high tendency, he would be given the ultimate punishment; death sentence, and Malia just couldn’t sit right with it.

She knew Jeremy would have to go through trial and if the crew needed to get him out, it had to be before his trial starts. The weighty family had to be convinced also that Jeremy was innocent as soon as possible, but with the confused reply the crew gave her about how to start their investigation on Jeremy’s innocence… she became more discouraged.

With Malia and Jeremy being out of the picture for an attendance at the event, Quinn and Tony, came out to their field of specialty. Elizabeth and Alex on the other hand, went for a report at another school.

As usual the crowd goes wild during the event. The two reporters did their job also. They took record of some folks on their view about the event. They both participated in the event in their own way and finally, it came to an end.

Quinn and Tony took a seat at a corner as they read their notes to each other and dusted their records.

“Could you believe this was the place that gave us our biggest hit on our page?” Tony said to Quinn but with his gaze and a smile towards the stage

“If you mean Malia and Jeremy…” she exhaled a deep breath “I guess so” she said with a faint smile

“What are we gonna do” she said looking at Jeremy whose eyes was still fixated on the stage. His smile seemed to have disappeared and replaced with a confused gaze

“I don’t even know where we could start from” he turned his whole body to face Quinn and stared at her blankly

Quinn felt a shiver go through her body. She gulped a huge amount of saliva down her throat. Her heart assured her it would pound its way out of her chest but she inhaled a whole lot of air that calmed her nerves a bit.

“I mean… I feel Jeremy couldn’t have done it, but when I think some more…” Tony sounded confused “I just don’t know”

“Why would you even think he could do a thing like that?” Quinn looked disturbed

“Hey guys…”

Quinn turned her gaze to her side. It was Vivian. The first student she ever interviewed at the event.

“Hey girl” Quinn gave her a faint smile but Vivian couldn’t notice as she gave her a seated hug

Vivian went towards Tony and dashed him a hug of his own who greeted back with a flabbergasted smile “hi”

“I thought you didn’t do entertainment, how come you are here again” she turned to Quinn without realizing the shock on Tony’s face.

Quinn knew Vivian as a lady that was free with everyone, so a hug was a normal thing in her dictionary

“Oh… I just had to come again”

“Ooooohhh you are loving the entertainment zone aren’t you” Vivian said with a playful body language

Quinn bursted into a soft laugh “apart from that, my other colleagues had to go somewhere else, so I had to fill in”

“Okay…” Vivian attempted to leave the two but she halted “that reminds me, I have been following your page as usual” Vivian gave a trilling smile “and I am so happy Malia and Jeremy are finally together. But I am so sorry about Frank. I wish he never died. He sounded like a good guy.”

Tony and Quinn were taken aback at Vivian’s words but they reincorporated themselves, when they remembered not just Vivian but that most people, if not the whole school knew about their page. Many mainly talked about the Maremy story and said it was more like a true life story than even a report. Whispers, chatters… all carried the news knowing that the Maremy story we about the two random picks at the last event. The Quad decided to end the Maremy story with Frank dying of Melanoma on their page since everyone already knew of Frank's death but not its cause. They didn’t want to continue with the story so they could avoid the rumors about the real cause of their sons’ death heading off to the Ambrose. They wanted to play it low-key and investigate on their own without the knowledge of the masses and the Ambrose family.

“You guys should keep writing” Vivian continued “you guys are gonna be wonderful journalist, I must commend”

“Thank so much love” Quinn couldn’t help but feel emotional

“But something still spikes me up you know” Vivian continued

“Like what” Tony seemed interested. He grabbed a seat and positioned it for Vivian to seat

Quinn always knew Vivian to be the chatter. She would speak her mind and it made her a social goddess. When it came to comics and novels, Vivian would always go wild in her elaboration about the book she read. She always made less interesting things become interesting with just her own view especially when it came to books. Although, she had her downside character, but Vivian is just a fun person everyone would like to be around. Even if she was a chatter, whenever she was serious about something, she always made sense. A reason Quinn would always give herself on why she kept her as a friend.

“That Jeremy guy, why would he blame Malia for such a thing. I mean I understand the fact that he was hurt about the death of his friend but common, saying she killed him all because she was in a confused state on how to respond to Frank’s confession or feelings for her, that is so unfair” Tony glanced at Quinn who got his eyes. She could read Tony’s eyes that he concurred with Vivian and so did she. “But I like Malia”

“Why?” Quinn asked

“In every novel, when it ends the way you ended yours, you are indirectly giving your readers the liberty to view a happy ending. So definitely Maria and Jerry got back together right?

There was a brief silence and hesitation from the college reporters

“What if I told you… we didn’t think the way you just did” Quinn said “what if we left it that way because we had no choice.

Tony gave Quinn a gaze that asked if Vivian was trustworthy and Quinn replied with a slowly blinked eyelid that said 'we can trust her'.

“Seriously…why, besides why aren’t you guys uploading it then” Vivian asked concerned

“We can’t” Tony responded “things have gotten quite messy and confusing

“How?”

Tony inhaled a deep sigh and gazed at Quinn for permission to proceed

“Jeremy was accused for Frank’s death”

“What!” Vivian exclaimed “people would flip when they get to know that. OMG! That is so messed up. As much as it would make a good story, it’s not much of a good story”

Tony and Quinn understood what Vivian meant. “Please let’s keep this between us. Nobody knows” Quinn pleaded with Vivian

Vivian was a chatter in the sense that she was a talker but not a talkative. She knew her limits and how to keep things. And Quinn trusted her to keep the secret

“I won’t I promise” Vivian assured sadly “any ways, I gatto go. I wish you guys the best and I hope you find a way to help your friend out. If you ever need my help for anything, I am always here. Nevertheless, you guys should figure out a way to work things out and bring out this Maremy story because it’s gonna get you guys to another level. You could even get sponsors and invitations from different people even before you guys are done with college.” Vivian hugged Quinn and sent tony a wave “you guys should take care… Bye”

Vivian went off leaving the two college reporters alone..
